Martin Miracles Scholarship Program Guidelines
What is the Martin Miracles Scholarship Program for Students with Disabilities?
The Martin Miracles Scholarship Program for Students with Disabilities provides scholarships for eligible students with disabilities for tutoring sessions in a secondary learning environment that is conducive to their learning style, either in a small group setting or in a one on one setting. Students with disabilities include K-12 students who are documented as having one of the 13-categories as defined by the Individuals Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). These thirteen categories are as follows: Autism; Blindness; Deafness; Emotional Disturbance; Hearing Impairment; Intellectual Disability; Multiple Disabilities; Orthopedic Impairment; Other Health Impairment; Specific Learning Disability; Speech or Language Impairment; Traumatic Brain Injury; Visual Impairment.
Who is eligible for a Martin Miracles Scholarship?
Any K-12 student who is an Arizona resident with a disability documented as having one of the 13-categories listed above, and who have obtained either a current MET, Individual Education Plan (IEP), or a 504-accommodation plan may receive a Martin Miracles Scholarship.
What is the award amount for a Martin Miracles Scholarship?
The award amount up to $2,000.00 will be determined based on, among other factors, the availability of funds.
How long does a Martin Miracles Scholarship last?
The scholarship shall remain in effect for the approved academic year.
Can a Martin Miracles Scholarship be awarded for consecutive years?
Yes, if the student still meets criteria to be eligible to reapply. A parent/guardian must submit a new application packet.
Can a Martin Miracles Scholarship be forfeited?
Yes. For example: a student can lose eligibility for a scholarship if he or she is declassified as special needs or he or she’s IEP or 504 status is not renewed. Also, a Martin Miracles Scholarship can be forfeited if a student is no longer a resident of Arizona.
How is a Martin Miracles Scholarship payment made?
Payment will be made when the following criteria are met: (a) approval into Martin Miracles Scholarship Program; (b) all necessary forms are completed, returned and verified; and (c) services are rendered by tutors qualified by all applicable Martin Miracles, Inc. criteria. Following compliance with the foregoing criteria, the parent/guardian will need to submit receipt(s) for tutoring for reimbursement either by email or U.S. mail. Receipt(s)/invoice(s) need to be submitted or postmarked within 15 business days from the tutorial receipt(s)/invoices(s) date. In the ordinary course, a reimbursement check will be issued in 7-10 business days following the receipt of receipt(s)/invoice(s) issued by the tutor/or tutorial center.
How does parent/guardian file “intent to participate” in the Martin Miracles Scholarship Program?
Parents/guardians may file “intent to participate” in the Martin Miracles Scholarship Program on the www.martinmiracles.org website by clicking on the Programs tab and then the link titled "Apply for a Martin Miracles Scholarship" located on the bottom of that page. Please print and complete the Application Packet. Application Packets can be submitted by email apply@martinmiracles.org or by mail directed to:

Will my application be kept confidential?
Martin Miracles, Inc. is authorized to disclose information and communicate with all parties serving the child as identified in the Martin Miracles Scholarship Application Packet, which includes the Tutoring Service Agreement. The parent/guardian of a child seeking a tutorial scholarship must complete, certify, and return to Martin Miracles, Inc. the Application Packet. Martin Miracles, Inc. shall not disclose any of its information about the child to anyone other than those persons identified by the parent/guardian in the documents comprising the Martin Miracles Scholarship Application Packet without parent/guardian’s written preauthorization.
Choosing a Tutor
Choosing a tutor will be at the discretion of the parent/guardian subject to, the following criteria:
· Hiring of family members as a tutor is prohibited.
· Hiring another Martin Miracles Scholarship recipient’s family member or guardian’s family member as a tutor is prohibited.
· Proof of Accreditation, tutor(s) must have a teaching certification, degree, and/or a college transcript demonstrating a minimum of 24 credit hours in the chosen academic subject.
· Tutor(s) must be employed or contracted through an accredited tutoring center.
Can a Martin Miracles Scholarship be used on more than one subject?
Yes; provided however, there will be only one scholarship granted up to a maximum amount of $2,000.00, which can be used for either one subject or multiple subjects. If you choose to use your scholarship for more than one subject, which requires multiple tutors, then Martin Miracles, Inc. will require a Tutor Agreement Form for each tutor with their qualifications to be submitted with the application packet.
